Founded in 1908 by Louis Alphonse Laveran (Nobel Prize in medicine 1907),
the Société de pathologie exotique's main aims are to study:

  • tropical diseases in man and animals,
  • hygiene and sanitary measures for preventing the spread of epidemics and murrains of tropical origin,
  • all problems linked to tropical medicine, biology, and health as well as those arising from expatriation and travel.

The Société de pathologie exotique (association Loi 1901) is acknowledged of public utility since 1962, and is authorized to accept donations and inheritance.
